Siemens VersiCharge home unit having problems

Interesting. But what do I actually do with it? I'm not going the OpenEVSE route, (already gone down another path), so it's not useful to me in that regards. Does it have some retail value for this otherwise? If so, anyone wanna make me an offer?

Siemens VersiCharge home unit having problems

Siemens was very responsive, so I give them high marks. Unfortunately, I was almost a year out of warranty, so there wasn't anything they could do for me regarding a replacement. But their customer service team was super fast to respond, and freely connected me directly with an engineer for...

Siemens VersiCharge home unit having problems

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I called Siemens and found them to be very responsive. They created a case, and an engineer called me within 75 minutes. He stated that the slow-flashing of the "Power Ready" indicator means the unit is dead. Apparently its not publicly documented anywhere, but...

Siemens VersiCharge home unit having problems

Thanks for the feedback. It seems that the car does know the Siemens is connected to it, as evidenced by the single beep when first plugged-in. Also by the little green plug icon on the dash. Actually, if I try to start the car with it connected then the "Disconnect plug before starting" (or...

Siemens VersiCharge home unit having problems

Thanks for the feedback. Some follow-up questions: No prob, will do. I'm not sure what you mean here? I took it to a L3 at the dealer to get me up to 85%. Its currently finishing on L1. Is there something else you are recommending? On trickle charger now, working fine. Car isnt throwing up...

Siemens VersiCharge home unit having problems

Long story short, my L2 home charger no longer charges the car. Heres there deal: Vehicle: 2014 Leaf SV, 30k miles, runs great, no problems. Charger: Siemens VersiCharge, 2nd gen. Professionally installed. Used daily for 3 years, no problems (until now). Here’s what happens when I plug the...

Siemens Versacharge fault light wont reset

Thanks for the detailed response. Fortunately, I wont have to deal with such detailed troubleshooting as Siemens has stepped up on the issue. I called their support number (1-800-241-4453) and opened a ticket. I received a call back by the end of the day and the technician decided that...

Siemens Versacharge fault light wont reset

I've got a Siemens Versacharge (purchased from HD online) that is hardwired to a dedicated 40a line running underground to my carport. All work performed by licensed electrician. It has never had any problems, until today. I came home and plugged the unit into my car, same as I do every day...

Help me pick the right EVSE please

I see the price of the upgrade is only $287... it seems like a no-brainer if it were apples-to-apples, so what am I missing? Why is getting a $700 EVSE better than upgrading OEM?

Help me pick the right EVSE please

I've read some of the other posts on the topic of EVSE's, and I've looked at the website that lists the multitudes of equipment options. Unfortunately (for me), the net result is that I'm a bit confused as to what to buy. Here are my specs/requirements: Will have two home charging locations...

S or SV, which to choose?

Wow, thats a big change. I thought this was a refundable tax credit (which I thought meant that we would get a check if the tax amount owed is less than the credit)?

S or SV, which to choose?

The Leaf is a throwaway car :?: If it is, I dont want one... Whats up with that :?: :?: I'm not sure why everyone is so big on leasing. We are planning to buy ours. And for almost nothing... Assuming a $30,000 purchase price, - $7,500 federal and $2,500 state credits (i.e. $10,000 free...

How much savings does off-peak hours charging really bring?

Wow that is cool (how it works) and so very helpful to know about. Thanks gang! :)

How much savings does off-peak hours charging really bring?

So if I arrive home from work at 6pm and plug in the EVSE, the car will automatically wait until 11pm before it starts charging?

How much savings does off-peak hours charging really bring?

Its my understanding that the S model doesn't allow the user to set a start time for charging, only an end time. Is that incorrect? If both allow it, then its a moot issue. I thought the start time could only be configured via the smartphone app.

How much savings does off-peak hours charging really bring?

In trying to decide if I should buy an S or SV, I'm taking in to consideration the smartwings feature on the SV that allows me to set the charge time to off-peak rates. I've listed the GaPower info below, but I can't begin to figure out the math. Assuming I need a 50% charge every Mon-Thurs...

Avoiding buried cable to detached carport?

Thanks everyone for the helpful info and feedback. I will definitely be contacting an electrician and having him run a dedicated 240/30a to the carport. Great suggestion about digging my own trench to save $. The next thing I need to figure out is which EVSE to get. I like the idea of an...

S or SV, which to choose?

Thanks everyone for the great info and feedback. Wifey and I took it all in to consideration and concluded that the S with charger package may be our best choice. Its a bummer to lose carwings and the hybrid heater, but it sounds like both of those losses can be somewhat restored on our own...

S or SV, which to choose?

Thanks for bringing out those points. My counter thoughts/questions are: Regarding the hybrid heater, the winter storms and deep freezes are possible (like this year) but still rare. I'm going to make a wild estimate and say 5% of the year is below freezing. Knowing that, do you still think...
