The official "I got my Leaf" thread

My wife has a daily fixed commute of 66 miles round trip for 200 working days of the year...so yes, we will put the 15,000 miles/year easily... I can tell you one thing....we end up putting more miles on the Leaf as the battery gets larger.....with shrinking range anxiety on a larger...

The official "I got my Leaf" thread

We just took possession of a 2021 Nissan Leaf SV Plus with the larger 62Kwh battery. We are loving it! We returned the 2018 40Kwh SV which was up on its lease.. The 200+ mile range makes it a decent day tripper in a 400 mile radius....certainly expands the day tripping horizon from the smaller...

    What's this 2016 SV worth?

    What's this 2016 SV worth?

It is not worth more than $6500 IMO. I had a 2016 SV that I drove till 52,000 miles (lease was for 3 years 54,000 miles).....the battery had lost a bar, and gave around 80 miles of range in California weather realistically. More than anything, it is the rapid advances in larger battery...

What is your real world range with 40 and 62 KWH?

I have been driving my 2018 SV 40Kwh on a 115 mile road trip between San Francisco & Sacramento comfortably without range anxiety since I got this 40Kwh model. Never have had to stop once for charge. In California though, not even much of woods are going to be left without charging stations...

    Leaf Arbitrage?

Likewise...used EVs from California will start getting dumped out of state..starting early next year. So much, for this weird HOV lane legislation that got passed in CA. You are right...used EVs from neighboring states (Oregon, Arizona and Nevada)...one has to be careful....they could have...

    Leaf Arbitrage?

Next 2-3 years...California will be a good market for used EVs from out of state. This has mainly to do with the new HOV legislation...every new EV or any used EV which has never been issued a CA HOV sticker in the past..will be eligible for 3-4 years of HOV lane access max. Californians who...

Warning: Battery Replacement Cost Increase (now $8500)

An initial battery pack size, that keeps the vehicle useful for the life of the vehicle 10-15 years/200,000 miles will make it bearable to purchase into an expensive replacement pack. I think, the 60Kwh sized battery packs should continue to give at least 125 mile range well up to 200K...

    Warning - Pro-Pilot Assist issues

That is correct. You need to adjust the following distance to 1 in thick stop and go, 2 in 35-55mph driving..and 3 at 65mph+ driving...that is the best way to work with PPA.

    Warning - Pro-Pilot Assist issues

I have the ICC feature on my 2018 SV (did not opt for the Tech package)...I drive in thick commuter SF traffic in office hour...I find the ICC pretty good. Sure, it is not able to react quick enough when someone cuts very closely...and it loses track of the car in front in sharp curves...a few...

Warning: Battery Replacement Cost Increase (now $8500)

Providing an affordable battery replacement option should be a first and foremost commitment of every EV manufacturer. If a car can't live to 200,000 miles, its really not a car just ready to compete with ICE cars. yet Tesla is better at supporting cars long term. Most Model S cars that have...

2018 Leaf Owners in Hot Climates?

You can still lease a Leaf with a 20,000 miles/year lease. And then opt to buy it out or not at the end of the lease term. Defer the decision to buy until the end of the lease term. This is how that works. Nissan is able to write leases up to 15,000 miles/year and then, if you need 20,000...

Red CAV sticker for used cars with white CAV stickers

If one were to purchase a used EV/plug-in from out of state, say an older model year like 2011 - 2016, I am curious if it will qualify for the new Red sticker, since technically, that car was never issued a CA sticker so far...I would think, it would qualify... Probably a legit loophole in the...

CA HOV Stickers Expiring Year End?

I have....question is, do you want a 31Kwh/111 mile range battery in 2018? The Kia Soul is much better priced than the 2018 Leaf/Bolt.. The 30Kwh cars are going to be obsolete very soon...Kia has a PHEV (Nero) which is as competitively priced as the Soul, but then that's a PHEV - different...

CA HOV Stickers Expiring Year End?

I have a 2015 & a 2016 Leaf in the household....slated to lose access on both cars on Jan 1, 2019 :) Can't wait for 2018 Leaf prices to drop a bit...why are 2018 Leaf lease prices so comparable to the Chevy Bolt? I would guess, a 150 mile range Leaf should come to at least $50/month cheaper to...

2016-2017 model year 30 kWh bar losers and capacity losses

Yep - Dublin does get quite hot by bay area standards :) As such though, I would not consider a few days of 100 degree weather and a few days of 30-33 degree weather as torture of any kind on the Leaf's battery....:) 90% of the days of the year, the temperatures are fairly moderate... I think...

2016-2017 model year 30 kWh bar losers and capacity losses

2016 Leaf SV acquired in Dec 2015. Currently at 32,600 miles. It lost its 1st capacity bar this morning. GOM has dropped to 95 miles with 100% charge. Charging habits: 100% charge daily overnight on level 2.. 1 hour level 2 top up to 80% at workplace on most days.. Occasional use of DCFC to...

Buyout my 2015 LEAF or return it?

I concur on this. I went from a 2013 Leaf to a 2016 Leaf..the 25% bump in range made a HUGE difference in the usability of the car.

Clicking noise during acceleration and decceleration

My 2016 Leaf SV with 24,000 miles has been doing the same the last 4-5 months. 1 click sound accelerating and 1 click sound decelerating. I took it in and demoed it...the dealer lubricated the axle and bearings..and the problem disappeared. 2 months later, the problem has reappeared. I am still...
