2016-2017 model year 30 kWh bar losers and capacity losses

Look for a Leaf SV or SL (heat pump models) from a moderate or cool region, leaf spy the battery before purchase, and you will be good.

2016-2017 model year 30 kWh bar losers and capacity losses

Thanks for the tips. Any idea why SOH and Ahr would diverge by 3 percent?

2016-2017 model year 30 kWh bar losers and capacity losses

From leaf owners manual: Allow battery to cool before charging (Use of charging timer is helpful here. If I need to charge a warm battery I do it but this is unusual for us) Park in shade (If shady spot is available. If you have to park in the sun daily while at work, this could be a problem...

2016-2017 model year 30 kWh bar losers and capacity losses

I decided to Check my 30Kw 2016 Leaf battery after seeing reports of accelerated degradation. I Was pleased to find 99.97% SOH (LeafSpy) after two years and 24,442 miles of use in northern Ohio. We L2 Charge daily to ~ 90% then drive off within 1/2 hour. It appears these batteries do well in...

Charge before or after leaving for 10 days

It is better for the battery to park it at a lower (30 to 40) SOC. When you return you can warm up the car while fast charging.

How is my 2015 battery doing?

"Nissan used to recommend it (at a time when they had a class action lawsuit and were forced to re-engineered the batteries) but no longer does. Interesting" Nissan still recommends avoiding charging above 80 percent for long periods. It's in my 2016 Owners manual. OP Charges to 100 percent...

    17inch Michelins 2016 - comments anyone ?

My 2016 SV Came with those tires. After 4000 Miles I have no complaints. I inflate them to 42 psi to increase range and tread life. They are superior to the Ecopias on our Prius. Smooth, quiet, and the Leaf handles well with the tires.

Back to looking at a 2014. More questions.

I would not buy a Gerorgia Leaf, it gets very hot in the southern US. If you go used a leaf from the northern US is the way to go.

Found one we like. Need a few opinions on price.

I puschased a 2016 Leaf SV in August for 22k. It was a returned lease with 500 miles on the odometer. How hard did you have to negotiate for the 22k price? With some effort and the willingness to walk away from this price and check back later the dealer may reduce the price further.

Will you be able to get the federal tax credit or will the dealer get that?

    Should I buy a 2016 Leaf SV?

Hi gshepherd. I The FFE is zippy but lacks the refinement and magic carpet ride, fun-to-drive ride quality of the Leaf. The first thing that struck me was the large ICE gear (P, R, D, 1) Selector. The FFE needs a joy stick. On the other hand it is good that Ford made the FFE. They are selling...

    Should I buy a 2016 Leaf SV?

Hi Stanton... I am making a couple assumptions about the Leaf 2. I assume it will be at least as awesome as the Leaf, and I assume the pack will be liquid-cooled which would eliminate battery degradation making the car more desirable and more valuable.

    Should I buy a 2016 Leaf SV?

Thanks for your feedback, it is very helpful. After dealer incentives and discounts a new Focus electric is $26,911 vs $28,359 for the Leaf SV ($2799 down & $279/mo lease). I ruled out the Focus after a test drive, the Leaf is a much nicer car (smoother, quieter, better controls and ergonomics...

    Should I buy a 2016 Leaf SV?

    * I live in northern Ohio and my commute is 65 miles round trip, ICE Is available for inclement weather driving * The car will be kept in a heated garage * If I routinely use level 2 charging to 80% how much battery degradation should I expect over a 10 year period? * I am also considering a...
