    Chime from dash

Did you program a route into the navigation system? If you didn't explicitly cancel the route, the navigation system will chime every time it wants you to turn.

Nissan Leaf on Paradise at Mount Rainier?

According to this site (http://www.jurassictest.ch/GR/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;), your problem isn't getting up the mountain, it's getting to the mountain. It's less than 20 miles from the park entrance to Paradise, with a 35 MPH speed limit. The problem is that the park...

From Tacoma WA to Bend OR!

I want to know what you do for a living, because you get to live in places like Maui and Bend. And do you need a business partner?

    is my heater working?

The quickest check is to look at the Energy Info screen in the center console. With the heater on, the Climate Control should be consuming anywhere from 1.5 to 4.5 kW. And yes, having the AC on in auto mode makes sense if you're trying to defrost the windows.

Gas Cans Can Can the User

I used to have a cordless Makita that struggled a bit when the grass got wet. Now I have a corded Black & Decker that handles it just fine. At least, I assume it does because my son hasn't complained about it.

Gas Cans Can Can the User

I don't own a gas can. I haven't owned one in the last 15 years. Electric lawnmower, electric string trimmer, electric chain saw. Gasoline is dangerous!

Wind Turbine Syndrome - green energy's dirty little secret

"The name was coined by Nina Pierpont, a John Hopkins University-trained pediatrician, whose husband is an anti-wind activist, criticizing the economics and physics of wind power." "...But her wind-turbine research has been criticized for improper peer review (Pierpont reportedly chose her...

Legislator says cyclists’ heavy breathing causes pollution

As a cyclist, you don't want lamb meat as a fuel. You want a good source of carbohydrates, like honey. And fortunately, researchers at UC Davis have calculated the carbon footprint of honey production: Carbon Footprint of Honey Using honey instead of lamb, gives you a figure of 0.2 - 0.4 kg...

    Charging leaf at friends home

You can use the portable EVSE that comes with the car, connected to an extension cord to charge the LEAF. I've done that many times. Just make sure you have a heavy-duty extension cord. I have a 50' 12-gauge, rated for for 20A. Cost me $50 at Lowe's.

    AIR CONDITIONER IN THE LEAF

This may sound crazy, but are you sure it's the air conditioner and not the heater? The heater uses 4-5 times as much power as the air conditioner. If you're using Auto climate control, depending on your temperature setting, it may be running the heater instead of the air conditioner.

Finally got the go ahead...keep me out of trouble!

The climate control and navigation system were both non-intuitive to me. Spend some time getting familiar with them. The user guides are actually pretty good.

2012 Leaf SL - First attempt at light photography

Nice! These were taken outdoors? Was it pitch black/overcast? When you say "longest possible exposure", how long? (Sorry for all the questions, but this is something I've been meaning to try as well).

I plan on going 200 miles or more Sat/Sun. (updated)

This may be a somewhat rambling reply, but bear with me. I use the analogy of sailing. Here in Seattle, the destination of choice is the San Juan Islands. Within the sailing community, there are two schools of thought: (1) If the wind isn't favorable, fire up the diesel and get up to the...

Lose the "Building Trees" on the head's up display

Well, that's the issue, isn't it? A typical ICE is 20-25% efficient. An electric motor is closer to 90%. They've been working on the internal combustion engine for over 100 years. I don't expect efficiency breakthroughs anytime soon. Agreed. But over the lifetime of the vehicle, the fuel...
