Nice video of 2019 model Leaf

Found this on YouTube. Looks like a really nice car. 250 mile range. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZ8tkFH-ubk Rich

Charging to 80% using car's end timer plus EVSE timer

Yes, I agree. It's such a basic need for the owner to control distance to be traveled with battery life considerations. My understanding is, when such a limiter is put in an EV it somehow detracts from the ability to claim maximum range. Not sure if that's accurate. Rich

Tesla UMC charger used in New Nissan Leaf?? YouTube Video

Gee, perhaps the folks that design these systems can somehow make them even more confusing. More sporting that way! Thanks for the explanations. Rich

Tesla UMC charger used in New Nissan Leaf?? YouTube Video

Hi. Saw this video, demonstrating the direct plug-in of a Tesla charger (level 2) to a Nissan Leaf. See link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N8Y99Iqq9_Y I am aware of adapters on the market for such a purpose, so I'm confused by how this was managed. Saw one other YouTube video where a BMW...

    Charging Station?

I'd be very suspicious of your dealer, based on what you wrote that he told you. The 2018 SL model (don't know about the other models) of the Leaf comes with a 240 volt charging cable (can use in with a 110 outlet as well with its adapter). This cable should cost you nothing when you buy the...

My 2011 Leaf just burned itself to a crisp and Nissan won't help me.

For the record, as chief of police of a small Cape Cod town, I've responded to numerous car fires (all ICE). One theory I have (unsupported by fact) is, when folks go in for a service, if the fuel filter is changed, on rare occasions the filter isn't attached properly, springs a leak and...

Replaced 12v Lead with 12v Lithium

Gerry, thanks for clarifying the data. For the record, in your view, is there any lithium based battery which might be of value for use in an EV? Rich

Replaced 12v Lead with 12v Lithium

Very interesting and informative thread. Read the whole dang thing!! Most of my batteries last between four and six years (all in ICE vehicles). I had one anomoly, a Mazda Miata in which I replaced my AGM battery after NINE YEARS!! And it was still working but I figured, nah, it’s gotta die any...

    Worse service experience ever?

Thanks! Yes, a bit of a hike in a Leaf... Rich

    Worse service experience ever?

GerryAZ, what dealer in Phoenix? Sounds like a good one. I'm in Tucson, is the reason I'm inquiring. Rich

2016-2017 model year 30 kWh bar losers and capacity losses

Ebeighe, that's pretty disheartening! Would you have been better off with the Bolt and its battery temperature control system? Hindsight being 20-20 and all! Rich

2016-2017 model year 30 kWh bar losers and capacity losses

Ebeighe, I live (seven months of the year) in Tucson and wish to buy an EV, thus I "lurk" on this forum a good deal. Seeing that you're are in Phoenix, your comments on your Leaf's battery life are important to me. You showed a significant loss in SoH from 100% to 88% in around four months of...

How to replace wiper refill (just the rubber)?

Perhaps these videos will help. How to replace the whole blade, how to replace the rubber insert only. Whole unit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFo1bDbbLKw Insert only https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FbQYl834MdU Rich

I envision a conversation happening like this some day...

Conversation which will take place sometime in the future, between an older guy and a young man. OG=Old Guy YG=Young Guy OG You kids have no idea how good you have it. When I was your age we had to put an explosive liquid in our cars in order for them to run. Everyone did. Called it...
