Brief torque loss during acceleration, a potential life-threatening event.

I drive more cautiously in traffic, but I also drive on rural roads every day well away from other vehicles where I can test the car's acceleration safely.

Brief torque loss during acceleration, a potential life-threatening event.

Weather here in Nova Scotia, Canada has been pretty constant over the past two months, still slightly below the freezing point on most days when I drive, and about the same as when the events happened, so temperature wouldn't appear to be a factor.

Brief torque loss during acceleration, a potential life-threatening event.

The following edit has been added to the title post of this thread: Two months and two thousand kilometers later on the same car and driver this has not happened again! So why it happened (about five times) last December is still a mystery. The last time was particularly bad as it occurred...

Brief torque loss during acceleration, a potential life-threatening event.

That is very noteworthy, I will keep that in mind. Perhaps Eco is not intended for emergency-type accelerations. I continue to drive my Leaf daily as before, and have not experienced any repeat of the behavior that led me to start this thread, even while still driving in Eco mode. I think...

Brief torque loss during acceleration, a potential life-threatening event.

Thanks for the correct Canadian agency to report vehicle safety issues to, cwerdna. I have bookmarked it for possible future use.

Brief torque loss during acceleration, a potential life-threatening event.

Thanks to all seven of you for monitoring this site and commenting on my post! Like you, I love my Leaf and regard it as near perfect for what I do, driving locally forty or fifty kilometers each day. To cwerdna, Nubo, garsh and SageBrush, I don't think actual wheel slippage is involved, as...

Brief torque loss during acceleration, a potential life-threatening event.

While similar events were described four years ago at http://www.mynissanleaf.com/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=18849&start=10 , my recent experiences have seriously upset my faith in the safety of EVs. I have owned and driven a 2014 Leaf 39000 Km over nearly four years, during which its quick and...

    Charger shutdown

Well I do have a 120 volt power monitor, so I did what you suggested, Gerry, and you are right, at least using the original level-1 EVSE that came with the car (a 2014SL). Even though the EVSE charging indicator remains on the power consumed drops to zero when the latch release is depressed...

    Charger shutdown

I have held the latch release down many seconds while watching the EVSE charging indicator showing continuing charging and the Leaf beeping repeatedly. Happens with both level 1 and level 2 EVSEs.

    Charger shutdown

This is about the preferred way to manually stop charging before a programmed termination by Leaf timer or 100% SOC. The power to the EVSE can be shut off, or the J1772 plug can be removed from the Leaf receptacle. When the J1772 latch release button is pressed this action is signaled to the...
