    Accident in leased 2018 Leaf

Yeah, did it. Mixed reviews for both, no consensus. That one guy who was great to someone was a bum to someone else. I've been to the one shop for an estimate already. They seem alright.

    Accident in leased 2018 Leaf

Thanks for the link, nrvous. I have no idea what they mean with "for us to endorse your insurance check" - as far as I know, I will pay my deductible upon collection of my vehicle and the rest is between insurance company and repair shop, no check to "endorse" - but I'll find out soon enough.

    Accident in leased 2018 Leaf

Hey now, everyone. (And thanks for all the responses.) Anecdotes are welcome. Opinions are welcome. Both experience and speculation are welcome. If I implied that I would rather avoid disclosure of the accident to NMAC, I did not mean to. Not the issue. I see specific language in my lease...

    Accident in leased 2018 Leaf

So I was in a minor accident with my Leaf the other day (evening). First accident for me in over 10 years, and the first one ever where I was not unquestionably blameless. Imagine making a left turn at an intersection and being clipped rear passenger side just even with the tail light by a 2001...

    Cold climate owners' experience wanted

I think I will try this. I have had some problems with frozen charge port door lately, and today's problem was especially vexing. First there was no sound when trying to open with the key. Fine, there usually isn't when there's a problem. There had not been a proper ice storm like there was a...

The Best, Least-Known Tips & Tricks

Yeah, it's a good tip, even if wasn't what I'd hoped it was. I just had to be a smartass. I noticed later that it is actually in the 2018 owners manual, too. I still like the idea of a "trick" to getting the wipers off the windshield and locked up so they don't blown down, though. I hate...

Despicable: Japan to Resume Commercial Whaling

Actually, I have not seen this particular thought expressed before. I'm not sure if johnlocke is taking me up on the idea of throwing up all the opposite-view counterarguments while actually being in agreement, but I'll take it literally. ("Free the cows" was funny, though. Even though we know...

    Full charge or not?

I think you are posing the questions to Dave, a Leaf owner far longer than I have been who might well have a valid point, but... For me, an overnight L1 charge when I fall below x%, in my case 60%, works. Without being religious about it or worrying about it or splitting hairs about whether...

If you knew then.. what you know now....

Yeah, I used to have something of an Apple tribe thing going, but I'm not so particular these days. For most of what I do, I probably wouldn't be able to tell the Mac OS or iOS from something that just looked like it.

The Best, Least-Known Tips & Tricks

Oh, I completely misunderstood this tip. I though it was about raising the wipers right off the windshield, not merely putting them in a vertical position on the windshield, which I (apologies) am not impressed with.

Heh. Did I jump on the wrong bandwagon there, too? I'll get a Samsung if you tell me it's the Tesla of smartphones. :D

Despicable: Japan to Resume Commercial Whaling

I'm on your side, but this is one of those topics so polarizing that I think a more fruitful discussion would be had if everyone switched sides and made all the many counterarguments of the opposing view. Just to see what it felt like to be the enemy. In this affluent society in which I live...

If you knew then.. what you know now....

I think this is a pretty common viewpoint among fans of the Leaf, and it is precisely what I was getting at when I characterized the general reviews of Nissan here as negative. I acquired my Leaf before I knew this forum existed. What I've learned here hasn't made me regret anything besides not...

If you knew then.. what you know now....

That was a fascinating post overall. Thank you. Yes, I think the items of suckage remain in place. That is my early impression. I love driving the Leaf, but most of the wonderful things are "new car wonderful," not "EV wonderful." Maybe I'd be just as happy with an ICE vehicle that had ePedal.

If you knew then.. what you know now....

I guess that was strange, as I put it. Also not quite accurate, apparently. As far as rebates go, one of the first things the salesman brought up was rebates, and apparently I qualified for none of them. Nothing specific was ever mentioned about discounts, but since I had gone in thinking...
