Hi Jono (and the rest of this thread)
I'm also based in NZ and a couple of years my G1 stopped charging. I replaced the OBC with a used one and it worked fine. I wrote the error codes on the old OBC and threw it into the back of the shed. They were:
B2820 - 028 VC63
B2840 - 016C VC74
P3173 -...
This is great info except for the lack of follow up! Have any of you with this problem tried to repair their chargers? What was the result? Negative answers are at least as useful as positive :)
Thanks :D
I'm just contracting design, build & commissioning services to them. Cash to fund the project is the issue. If they can get a decent amount of pre-sales or investment they can get it done sooner and have more success and therefore more cash.
This photo is of a pre-production prototype. No car in the wild has these connectors or internal details AFAIK. Don't use it as a reference.
G1 packs have tons of bolts and a rubber seal.
G2s are bonded.
Putting G2 cells into G1 wiring does indeed fry the BMS. I know because I've done it...
Is this likely to be what decides if options such as Cruise Control are enabled? I tried to upgrade my Leaf to this by simply installing the steering wheel button assembly. There was a connector right there in the wheel for the loom to plug in to. Sadly it wasn't as simple as that. I didn't...
I'm certain that the BMS only sends out the data LeafSpy uses after it gets requested. I'm pretty certain that in normal operation (ie without leafspy) those requests aren't sent. The BMS does send a bunch of data without being requested but I haven't seen any decoding of it.
Great work going on here. Thanks for sharing :D
I've been working with a plug'n'play module from http://www.thunderstruck-ev.com/dilithium-vcu.html. It goes great on a G2 motor inverter but only in reverse on a G1 (I haven't ruled out wiring harness mistakes but I'm 95% sure I've done it...
