Portable Charge Cable for 2018 LEAF?

Pretty sure that’s just a shadow on the prong - multiple sources say it’s a 14-50.

Portable Charge Cable for 2018 LEAF?

Thanks for adding the diagram Ken. There are a couple of problems with the text though: 1. It should only draw 12 amps on a regular 120V outlet 2. "Dryer-type" shouldn't really be applied to a NEMA 14-50 outlet - this language sparked some earlier discussion in this thread. Dryers are typically...

Portable Charge Cable for 2018 LEAF?

That was me that posted the image (from a screenshot), and as I said in the same post it came from Nissan's "configure/build" page. Thanks for finding the direct link to the image. I think we can all agree that the verbiage there is at best misleading and at worst dangerous (as I also suggested...

Portable Charge Cable for 2018 LEAF?

I wonder what would happen if you put on the 120V adapter, then plug into a 240V supply using your own homemade adapter. Would you then charge at 240V/12a (2.88 kW) or would it revert to 240V/27.5A (6.6kw), or would it just get fried? (Don't blame me if you try this and it's the latter.) :lol...

Portable Charge Cable for 2018 LEAF?

Nope, at the time of my comment I was just looking at what's available from the Nissan configure/build page. Nissan states that you use "the same plug as your home dryer", which led me to believe it's a 14-30p, but I since learned (from other posts in here / other social media) it's a 14-50p...

Portable Charge Cable for 2018 LEAF?

Since it doesn't look like anybody's directly answered the question yet: All trims include a standard 120V charge cable that will allow charging from a normal outlet. Included with the SL trim and with various options in other trims is a 120V/240V charge cable that can charge from both normal...

    Official Southern California Edison thread

Same thing happened here with my '11 Leaf - error message then $0 reserved. Everything seemed to go smoothly with my Rav (which I entered in first), so I thought maybe it had to do with making a second application, but perhaps it's just a 2011 Leaf thing. EDIT: now says $450 reserved for the...

    2011 SL Backup camera replacement

From my initial googling it looked to me like the 2011-2012 have a different camera from the 2013+ models. And while the 2013+ cameras seemed to be in the $100-200 range, the 2011-2012 ones (28442-3NA0A) were $600+. Who knows, maybe the newer ones (28442-3NH0A) would work anyway, but it's a...

    2011 SL Backup camera replacement

Went to back out of my garage this morning and the backup camera view was flickering and looking "negativey" if that makes any sense. Since the dash display works fine for everything else I'm assuming it's the camera itself that's the problem, or possibly the wiring. And since my Leaf is a 2011...

Early Adopter Mistake - Running on Empty

Bummer! Glad to hear injuries were avoided. This does bring up one thing I'm really curious about. Assuming your car is totaled (I can't imagine it won't be), I'll be very interested to hear how your insurance company figures out the proper replacement value for the car, given its new battery...

    New owner, need help charging

Yup. Other options in the same vein include OpenEVSE, Juicebox, GE's Durastation, Siemens Versicharge, JESLA, and perhaps some more. If you think you might ever want to take your EVSE on the road to charge up at unfamiliar places I think this adjustability is indispensable.

    New owner, need help charging

No, you should not do this. The "25" in LCS-25 means you need at least a 25 amp circuit. You should not draw more than 16 amps on a 20 amp circuit.

    8 bar battery replacement metrics

Gonna be a close one. Drive the hell out of it as much as possible, and if you succeed early wait out the summer before getting the new pack.

    Siemens Versicharge EVSE - question

Because the Versicharge (and many other commercial EVSEs) come with a 6-50 plug. No, with that short of a run the cost of the 10' of extra wire will be negligible, and if anything the receptacle itself will be cheaper, as 14-50s are much more common. This is wrong - are you thinking of a 10-50...

    Siemens Versicharge EVSE - question

A 6-50 doesn't have a neutral connection - you're thinking of the more ubiquitous 14-50. It probably makes sense to include the extra wire anyway, though, in case you ever want to change out the outlet. And as others said you should run #6 wire.
