Nissan Leaf Rust and structural integrity.

I'd like to make it clear though, that I never actually washed the engine bay. I've only ever taken it through those Touch-less automated car washes. You pull into a garage and the sprayer is on a rail and circles around 360 degrees above the car to wash the car with soap and water (there's also...

    rust-proofing undercarriage

Here in Toledo, Ohio we have salt just like the OP. I too worry and wonder about Rust Proofing. I personally wouldn't leave it to chance that Nissan took action at the factory to prevent against rust. Around here with the road salt, humity, brine, snow, and slush from November to March, its...

Nissan Leaf Rust and structural integrity.

Haha, yeah I don't know if I have the knowhow to do all that. Like I said, it's on the black metal piece at the very bottom of the engine bay. Unfortunately I am short and also have short arms. I can barely reach my hand all the way down to the metal. I don't know how I could maneuver a...

Nissan Leaf Rust and structural integrity.

I'd like to do what you've suggested but the space is so tight that I can barely get my hand down there with my phone to take a picture, let alone maneuver a wire brush and all that. Because its all the way down at the bottom, my arm barely reaches it as well. Also, I don't think I can clean...

Nissan Leaf Rust and structural integrity.

Ok, I washed it all down and the salt didn't come off of the metal cover with the Nissan logo on it. It probably didn't come off because I didn't use soap, only water from the Spray nozzle on our garden hose. But, I sprayed down the entire engine bay area to up the dirt. I drove it on the...

Nissan Leaf Rust and structural integrity.

I just looked at the area again today. I wiped my finger across it. A lot of it was dust. I did just have it hauled back from California. I forgot all about that it might be that. I never actually wash inside the "engine " bay, so it makes sense that it's still left over. It was on an open...

Nissan Leaf Rust and structural integrity.

Here is what I'm talking about. I know I live in Toledo OH, but come on. It was a brand new car. I took care to wash it once a week all winter long, with occasional lapses. Are other Leafs going to do the same? Does this rule out buying it or is nothing to worry about? I actually have the...

Nissan Leaf Rust and structural integrity.

Today I opened my 2014 Leaf's hood. I just happened to look down and noticed what looks to be rust on a metal portion of the structure. I don't know if it's the Frame, or a non-structurally integral piece. The rust is on a hefty metal piece, that underneath the Electric motor/electronics...

Goodbye Nissan Leaf, hello Kia Soul EV

How does someone connect a Diagnostic tool, such as a Scangauge or LeafSpy then? If your Tesla has issues are you supposed to just let it rod in the driveway then?

Goodbye Nissan Leaf, hello Kia Soul EV

Nope, I downloaded the Soul EV Owners manual and sifted through it. I didn't find anything about the OBD2 port. I thought manufacturers have been required by law since 1996 to build-in an OBD2 port, present only within a foot or so of the drivers feet? Even the 90's EVs all had OBD2 ports...

Reality of a Coast-to-Coast Road Trip in the Leaf

Thanks for the information. I'll be sure to keep this all in mind. I have thought that maybe its actually possible to not only drive to Bakersfield, but also Los Angeles. With a little planning on Plugshare, gathering the necessary 240V Portable Charging Station, and various adapters I think it...

Sway concept hints at Leaf 2 styling ?

Well, I don't think they're cartoon-like at all. They are easy to understand, simplistic, futuristic, and cleanly designed. Wagging needles are a thing of the past, and should be relegated to such. You can't even tell the precise speed with needles, only an estimate! And it's static, hogging up...

Sway concept hints at Leaf 2 styling ?

I sure hope the stupid honking Instrument Cluster doesn't make it into Leaf Gen 2 production. Its ridiculous and huge. Its almost an insult to even consider such as thing; too reminiscent of an ICE gasmobile. After giving us Leaf drivers a super-clean and efficient LCD screen that we have now...

How much can a nissan leaf tow? Feats of towing might!

It does state in the Nissan Leaf Owners Manual not to tow with the Nissan Leaf. I would be concerned with the stress on the Unibody frame since its not made for towing nor has it been reinforced either.
