    Leaf-Curious in Dallas

Today I bought a 2010 Prius with 45k miles from a "no haggle" dealership chain. I figure on putting 100k more miles on it over the next 6-8 years and then deciding what's next. For total cost of ownership the Leaf was competitive, but for a 1-person household the range limit was a little scary...

Nissan Leaf Radio Commercial in Dallas

Heard a different one on KESN in the past hour. I think it was shorter than the first because it was almost over before I noticed it was for the Leaf. It's primary point was not needing to buy gasoline. I would guess tonight's was part of a national campaign as it was a national ESPN Radio show...

    Is the Nissan Leaf Ugly?

I also like the front and sides but not the back. The bug-eye-ness took a little getting used to, but I like it now. I can't get used to the back end.

Nissan Leaf Radio Commercial in Dallas

I heard a radio commercial for the Nissan Leaf today in the Dallas area during the afternoon rush hour. It was one of the music stations; I don't recall which one or if it was a local show or syndicated. I think it was either 102.1 KDGE, 103.3 KJKK or maybe 92.5 KZPS. If it was JackFM it might...

    Leaf-Curious in Dallas

When I wrote that I was referring to a Gen 2 Prius. I test-drove a Gen 3 2012 Prius today and hate what they've done with the center console. It hits my knee awkwardly, giving me less room, but seems smooth enough to drive. The Leaf is actually a better fit for my long legs. I also test drove a...

Internet Forums For Historical Tech Transitions

I've been reading this forum the past couple of weeks learning about the Leaf, plug-in cars in general and the types of people posting here. Some are buyers who got less than they expected, some are evangelical and would rework their life to accommodate electric driving, etc., etc.. I'm in a...

    Thinking of Getting A Leaf

Oh. Do you mean to put a QC port on the car or to install level 2 EVSE at your home? The first can't be done once it's out of the factory, or so I read here. The second wouldn't be done by your dealer but by an electrician. Edit: You said previously you've ordered an S with QC, so your car...

    Thinking of Getting A Leaf

level 1 = 120 v level 2 = 240 v "quick charge" / QC / DCQC / CHAdeMO = not for home. Your municipality and insurance company would fight against your installing one, I imagine. If you mean level 2 "don't call it a charger" EVSE, there may be credits for that depending on your state.

Hi just joined and looking to get a Leaf. Question about gas

I was waffling between a gasoline-in-a-can joke and a gasoline-soaked-in-the-carpet joke, the latter having lots of panic. You win.

When will LEAF sales reach 200,000?

Q2 2015 sounds a tad early to me. Even if demand spikes they'll have to ramp up production, and that's not instant. I'll say end of year 2015.

    That's not a Nema 5-15. It's one of the 240v plugs, maybe a Nema 6-50?

Well crud. I ran the numbers and determined the cheapest course of action is to continue driving my old car, and the next-cheapest is to trade up to a late-model version of the same car. But I may be talking myself into a 2-year Leaf lease, if the deals that mkjayakumar report are what I could...

How much do you pay for electricity?

Ok, for the past 12 months I have used a total of 10,073 kWh and paid $1,291.24 for an all-inclusive average of $0.13/kWh. I don't have a plug-in car, so that's all household use. The sales tax is the only item on the bills besides energy use, and it appears to be slightly under 1%, and my plan...

    Thinking of Getting A Leaf

All Leafs can charge at 240 and 120. QC is different and not on all Leafs.

How much do you pay for electricity?

When estimating what a Leaf would cost to drive I scrounged up a few statements, and this is my rate as quoted on my bill. My plan is not tiered. In TX we have a confusopoly of retail electric providers. Last time I picked a provider it was impossible to determine real rate, because all the...
