L2 Charging Issue, 2015 Leaf, Duosida EVSE

About the only thing I have not done at this point is to replace the (dedicated) breaker for that plug. I checked/redid the connections on both ends, no difference. The GFCI change out made no difference so that was not it either. I charged it all day today and it never faulted once. It seems...

L2 Charging Issue, 2015 Leaf, Duosida EVSE

I need to take another look at the ZenCar charger. It is actually appealing. I would either have to use adapters and knock down the charge current, or change the outlets on both ends (home and work). I am considering it so thanks for pointing it out. So, the new unit faulted as well. Same...

L2 Charging Issue, 2015 Leaf, Duosida EVSE

So to follow up, I am returning the EVSE to Amazon and getting another one. There seems to be other instances of the Duosida EVSEs doing what mine is doing. I'll let you know how it works out after I use it a few times to verify that the fault is gone. By the way, be careful who you purchase...

L2 Charging Issue, 2015 Leaf, Duosida EVSE

I was also wondering about large appliances like the stove, clothes dryers, water heaters etc. We do have a BIG well pump since it is about 800 feet below grade (no kidding). It is 3 HP IIRC. I have a dedicated transformer, and it is oversized, so that should be OK. No radio towers nearby...

L2 Charging Issue, 2015 Leaf, Duosida EVSE

I have not observed it directly, no. It is hard to know when it will happen. No I don't use the charge timer so it starts right away. Tension on the plug is about the same at work or home. I considered that one but don't think that's it. Power at work is 208V (tapped from two phases)...

L2 Charging Issue, 2015 Leaf, Duosida EVSE

I'm still trying to figure this problem out. The power company did not find anything unusual on my electrical feed based on a week of recording data at the meter and on both branches of the house wiring. I am still getting charging faults. It's frustrating when I come out to drive somewhere...

L2 Charging Issue, 2015 Leaf, Duosida EVSE

Good question. I had verified that the charging timer is off. I will try that next. Good idea. I did that a few times today and there are no errors related to the charging. There are some codes from the removal of the Bose stereo, and the still-not-working Nissan Connect unit, but I knew...

L2 Charging Issue, 2015 Leaf, Duosida EVSE

OK so there is no neutral at the plug on the house side of the EVSE. Even though it is 240V, it is a three-prong plug (leg-leg-ground) which is the way the Duosida EVSE comes. Checking ground with respect to neutral, at the breaker panel (load center) and at several different outlets in the...

L2 Charging Issue, 2015 Leaf, Duosida EVSE

OK I have read through some of the threads here and have not found a discussion on this exact issue I am having. So I am posting this thread in the hope that someone here has seen something similar. Background: 2015 Leaf SV Duosida EVSE L2 Charger, 240V 16A Charging via 220VAC (60 Hz)...

Going for a full Bosectomy - SUCCESS! (custom speaker/amp/DSP install)

Another update - SUCCESS!!! The Bose amp is out of the car completely and everything is running from the head unit and the DSP/amps I added. Some details: - The output from the STOCK head unit (originally connected to the Bose amp) works great as the input into the DSP. I am using the two...

Going for a full Bosectomy - SUCCESS! (custom speaker/amp/DSP install)

No I have not tested the outputs yet, but if they are speaker level outputs AND differential signals that is good for noise immunity. That integrated Focal setup is nice. I had not seen that one before. You won't be able to independently time align the front speakers (door versus a-pillar)...

Going for a full Bosectomy - SUCCESS! (custom speaker/amp/DSP install)

Note that I have cut out the plastic vapor barrier and covered all of the holes in the door panel with the soundproofing material. This isolates the back wave of the speaker from the cab and provides some significant sound damping. In the areas where the holes in the door panel are large, I...

Going for a full Bosectomy - SUCCESS! (custom speaker/amp/DSP install)

More progress over the weekend. I have removed the Bose door speakers from both front doors, salvaged their frames for reuse (as noted previously), epoxied them to the Tang Bands, added sound damping material to both doors, and installed the new drivers. Everything went smoothly. Here is the...

Going for a full Bosectomy - SUCCESS! (custom speaker/amp/DSP install)

More progress today... So I had heard about how cheaply made the Bose drivers were, and after seeing them for myself, yeah, they are pretty cheap. Plastic baskets (not always bad, but not impressed with these), really thin paper cone, very thin rubber surround, small voice coil, puny magnets...

Going for a full Bosectomy - SUCCESS! (custom speaker/amp/DSP install)

Here is the 4-channel amplifier and the C-DSP 6x8 installed on the mounting plate. This will be placed in a hidden spot in the car. https://photos.app.goo.gl/bvkaoV9mJvHimzx73
